About me

I'm Ari Berris, and I have practiced law for more than two decades. I represent individuals, families, and businesses in estate planning, business law, and family law, and I also counsel clients facing drunk driving charges and personal injury matters. Different areas of law, but they share one thing: at some point life hands you a legal decision that matters, and you want someone in your corner who knows the terrain and takes the time to explain it.
That explanation is the part many firms skip. My approach is straightforward: the depth of a large firm, delivered personally. When you call the Berris Law Firm, you work directly with me, an experienced attorney, from the first conversation to the final signature.
It is also why I limit how many clients I take on each month. A manageable caseload is what lets me give your matter genuine attention and answer most questions myself, whether by email, over the phone, or across the table. It is a deliberate choice, and it is the reason my clients consistently feel heard.
My clients understand that sound legal work has real value. It is almost always less costly to do something correctly the first time than to repair it after it has gone wrong. My role is to make sure you understand not only what we are doing, but why, so you can decide with confidence and move forward.
My story
How I got here
My path to this work was a deliberate one. I grew up around the law, my great uncle, my uncle, and my cousin all practiced, and I was drawn to advocacy early. Law school felt like a natural step, and I expected the courtroom to be where I would make my mark.
Early in my career I practiced litigation, and it taught me something that has shaped everything since: my best work happens before a dispute ever reaches a courtroom.
That realization led me to where I found my calling, transactional work, estate planning and business law. I was drawn to its thoughtful pace and to clients who plan ahead. I would rather help you get something right from the start than repair a problem after the fact. I still practice family law, but I approach even that less as litigation and more as guiding good people through a difficult chapter with clarity and care.
The story that crystallized it
Someone close to me lost their aunt and uncle one week apart. The whole family was certain there was a will, but no one could find it. What followed was a fight between both sides of the family, and a probate estate worth about $450,000 that cost more than $15,000 to settle. All of it avoidable. All of it heartbreaking.
That's the heart of how I practice. You can handle things on the front side, calmly, in control, at a fraction of the cost, or you can leave it for the back side, when it's expensive, emotional, and out of your hands. I'd much rather help you on the front side.
Vision
The lawyer people actually want to call
I built the Berris Law Firm around a simple idea: be the attorney people are genuinely glad they called. Too often, people delay important legal decisions because they expect to be talked down to, rushed, or handed a bill they cannot follow for work they do not understand. I have built this firm to be the opposite, a place where you are treated as a person, the language makes sense, and you always understand both the what and the why behind every decision.
I believe in doing things right the first time. It protects your family, your business, and your peace of mind, and over time it is almost always the less expensive path. Most legal problems are far easier to prevent than to fix. And you deserve an attorney who has the time to truly understand your situation, rather than one carrying more files than anyone can handle well.
That is why I keep this practice personal and my caseload limited. It is not the highest-volume way to run a law firm. It is the right way to serve the people who trust me with what matters most to them.
